The Safety and Convenience of Online Visits

During the past 18 months, working from home, getting together with friends, and celebrating special events virtually became the new norm. Online medical visits also became much more common. Although life is gradually getting back to normal, telemedicine appointments with the providers at Surfside Pediatrics, Dr. Kevin White, Dr. Stacey Lowen, Dr. Gary Winston and Melissa Wilkey, NP remain a great option for both children and parents.

Telemedicine visits save time

Thanks to telemedicine visits, you won't have to worry about traffic jams, or come up with ways to keep your child occupied in the waiting room. Your child can rest in bed or on the couch until it's time for their visit, and you can get a little work done. If you're out of town, you won't have to worry about taking your child to an unfamiliar doctor or visiting an urgent care center. No matter where you are, your child will be able to be seen by Surfside Pediatrics.

Your child's visit is secure

The office uses HIPAA-complaint software to ensure your child's privacy during virtual visits. In fact, the appointment will be just as secure and private as it would be if you were actually in the office. On your end, you'll use your smartphone, laptop, or tablet to talk to the doctor. You'll need a device that has a camera and a microphone, as the medical provider will need to see your child during the visit.

Telemedicine is ideal for many medical issues

Although telemedicine can't be used for well-child visits, it's an effective way to diagnose and treat many conditions and symptoms, including:

  • Earaches
  • Fevers
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Coughs, colds, the flu, and other viruses
  • Stuffy noses
  • Headaches
  • Pink eye
  • Rashes
  • Joint or muscle pain

Virtual visits can be used to manage chronic health conditions or refill prescriptions. If you're not sure if your child needs to be seen in person or if tests are needed, your child's doctor can make the decision during a virtual visit. Virtual visits can also be helpful if your child is struggling with depression or mental health, learning, or behavioral issues.
